I Pledge Allegiance

This morning, I noticed that someone had left an American Flag -- haphazardly folded -- on the Business Office counter at my work. I'm not really a politically-minded person, but I do love America. This is the Promised Land; a land flowing with milk and honey; a land of freedom; a land where the people have a voice.
Seeing the flag just left there in a heap seemed so wrong. So I quickly looked up how to correctly fold an American Flag (www.homeoftheheros.com) and had my supervisor help me fold the flag. However imperfect you may feel the government is, this land was built on inspired principles. Let's show our country and our flag some respect.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: One nation, under God, indivisible; with liberty and justice for all.
May God bless America.

Rattlesnake Gultch

For one glorious week, it actually felt like summer! And I whole-heartedly took advantage of it. A couple weeks ago, I went hiking with my Relief Society up Millcreek Canyon. The view from the top was spectacular. Salt Lake City is really a beautiful place.

That weekend, I decided to go hiking again. This time I took my mom with me. We definitely took it at a slower pace, but it was still awfully fun. (And this time, I remembered to take water with me. Thank goodness!)

As you can see, I got a nice little sunburn from the hike. And while that may sound like a bad thing to the untrained ear; when you are so white you glow in the dark, any little bit of color on your face is a wonderful thing.

I can't wait for more summer activities!
